FAZA Progress Report: April 2020

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all staying safe during the pandemic. I wanted to update you all on a few items:

  • We’ve completed the remaining graphic design work. The back of the box was the last item on the list and Anthony has done a stellar job! If you like what you see in the image below, be sure to thank him for his creative work and all of his effort.
  • On the manufacturing side of things, we made our initial deposit payment with Longpack Games to begin the manufacturing process. We sent over our design files, they reviewed them, and have given us feedback on tweaking the bar code side of the box.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you,

Ben

FAZA Progress Report: March 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re all holding up okay during the pandemic! We wanted to check-in and also make you all aware the graphic design work has been taking a little longer than expected. Anthony’s health has taken priority in his life, and he’s been trying to fit in graphic design work on FAZA in-between chemo treatments. We are very close to finishing this stage of the process and will be moving on to manufacturing once it’s done. As soon as the graphic design work is completed, I’ll follow-up with another update.

Stay Safe,

Ben

Progress Report: January 2020

Since the last progress report, we have the following updates:

  • The graphic design work for the rulebook has been completed by Anthony. There’s a lot of work that’s gone into this and it shows. You’re welcome to download the rulebook here or click the image below. (FYI, the rulebook you’re downloading was compressed from 25 MB down to 6 MB, so image qualities were reduced to save space).
  • The manufacturing files for the cards (34 FAZA event cards, the 16 player cards, the 8 character cards) and the chipboard pieces (board tiles, mothership standees, mothership activation tracker, difficulty & reference tiles, mothership guide tiles) have been prepared for Longpack.
  • We are in the process of completing the design for the back of the box.

Progress Report: November 2019

Over the month of November we worked on the following items:

  • We finished a first draft of the rulebook with new graphic design and layout. We’re currently in the process of proofreading this draft and will be sharing it in a future update as soon as we’re done editing.
  • We prepared the 34 FAZA Event Cards, the 16 Player Cards, and the 8 Character Cards in the  format Longpack Games requires for printing. We’re also currently in the process of laying out the chipboard pieces in the format outlined by Longpack Games.

Progress Report: September 2019

Posting a brief progress report for September. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about the items below.

  •  Kickstarter Reward Survey: We’re planning to use Kickstarter’s reward survey instead of a pledge manager. We’ll plan to send out a survey asking for addresses when we’re closer to fulfillment.
  •  Custom Meeples: We’ve added screen printed icons to the custom player meeples. These icons will ensure people experiencing colorblindness are able to distinguish between them. We also used a Chrome plugin to simulate various forms of colorblindness (Protanopia, Deuteranopia, Tritanopia, Protanomaly, Deuteranomaly, Tritanomaly, Achromatopsia, and Achromatomaly) and learned the colors for the FAZA Drone (orange) and Rebel FAZA (purple) meeples are able to be distinguished from one another.
  •  Rulebook Graphics: The graphic design work for the 20 page rulebook is still in progress. When it’s done, we’ll make it available to download so you may review it.
  •  Stretch Goal Board Art: Scott Chantler has finished up the queue of work that was ahead of our work for FAZA and has started on the additional board art.
  •  Honorary Producers: Prototype copies of FAZA have been delivered to the honorary producers as part of their reward.

Progress Report: August 2019

Now that the Kickstarter campaign has come to a close, I’ll be posting progress reports to show the progress we’re making towards polishing FAZA and getting it ready for manufacturing and fulfillment.

Outlined below are updates and items we’ve completed over the past month. Do let me know if you have any questions or comments about them.

  • Custom Meeples: In the past two weeks we finalized on a design for the custom meeples. In the image below you can see the shape, colors, and sizes for the player meeples, Faza Drone meeples, and Rebel meeples.
  • Box Design: We’ve finalized on the design for the box top and sides, which you can see in the image below. We’re still working on the box back.
  • Rulebook Editing: We’ve done another round of editing on the rulebook: incorporated feedback from backers, added additional text and examples, and moved a few sections earlier in the rulebook to help clarify mothership combat. You may download and read the latest rulebook here on FAZA’s website.
  • Rulebook Graphics: We are still working on the graphic design for the rulebook and are hoping to have new visual elements and layout that fits better with the aesthetic of the game in the next month.
  • Stretch Goal Board Art: The additional board art is currently in our illustrator’s queue of work. He currently has a few projects ahead of ours and will get to it in about a month and a half.
  • Manufacturing Update: We have finalized on a quote with Longpack Games and are waiting on the final pieces of art and graphic design before we send them our files.
  • Honorary Producers: We gathered information from the Honorary Producers. Their names have been added to the rulebook under the credits section. The Game Crafter is currently in the process of manufacturing their prototype copies as part of their reward.
